Privacy Policy

Amor (“Amor,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Amor mobile application (iOS bundle ID com.amor.couples; Android package com.amor.couples) and the website at amorcouples.com (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and subject to our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
When you register we collect your email address, a display name you choose, and the authentication identifiers issued by your sign-in provider (Apple, Google, or email). We never see your Apple or Google password. Passwords you set directly are stored as a salted cryptographic hash.
1.2 Couple content
Content you and your partner create inside Amor — daily ritual responses, messages, love notes, quiz answers, calendar entries, photos, and other user-generated material — is stored so both of you can access it across devices. This content is private to your couple and is never used for advertising, sold, or shared with any third party except as set out in Section 3.
1.3 Device and usage data
We collect technical and diagnostic information including: app version, device model and OS version, crash reports and error logs, broad feature-usage events (e.g., “opened calendar tab”), and IP address at the time of API requests. This data helps us maintain stability and improve the Service. Except for the optional advertising attribution described in Section 1.7, it is not used to track you across third-party apps or websites, and it is never combined with your couple content for advertising purposes.
1.4 Subscription and payment data
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive a transaction receipt and entitlement status from the store — we do not receive or store your credit-card number or billing address.
1.5 Device permissions (optional)
- Photos / Camera: Accessed only when you actively choose to upload a profile picture or send a photo to your partner. We access only the specific items you select.
- Calendars: Accessed only if you choose to sync shared plans with your device calendar. We do not write to your system calendar without your explicit action.
- Location (approximate): Used only if you enable the optional weather feature on your shared home screen. Location is not collected in the background.
- Notifications: Used to deliver daily prompts, partner messages, and reminders for shared plans.
1.6 Communications
If you contact us for support, we retain the content of that communication to resolve your request and improve our service.
1.7 Advertising attribution (with your permission)
To understand which of our ads bring people to Amor, we use AppsFlyer, a mobile measurement provider. If you grant permission through the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt, we collect your device advertising identifier (IDFA) and an AppsFlyer-generated device identifier, together with install and conversion events (for example: app installed, registration completed, free trial started, subscription purchased). These signals are shared with the advertising network that showed you our ad (for example, TikTok) solely to measure ad performance. If you decline the prompt, we receive only aggregated, anonymous campaign results through Apple’s SKAdNetwork and your device is not individually identified. Your couple content is never used for advertising and is never shared with advertising partners.
2. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and improve the Service and its features.
- To securely sync your couple content between your devices.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To deliver notifications you have enabled.
- To process subscription entitlements.
- To investigate abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with law.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To measure the performance of our advertising campaigns — only with your consent, as described in Section 1.7.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your couple content to serve you ads. We do not share your data with third-party data brokers. The only advertising-related sharing we do is the consent-based campaign measurement described in Sections 1.7 and 3.1.
3. How we share information
3.1 Service providers (sub-processors)
We use a limited set of vendors who process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations:
- Supabase — database, row-level-secured storage, and authentication.
- Expo / EAS — push notification delivery and over-the-air updates.
- Apple / Google — sign-in services and in-app purchase receipts.
- Vercel — hosting for the marketing website.
- RevenueCat — subscription management; forwards subscription events to AppsFlyer for the ad measurement described in Section 1.7.
- AppsFlyer — mobile advertising attribution and campaign measurement (see Section 1.7). With your consent, AppsFlyer shares conversion signals with the advertising network that showed you our ad (e.g., TikTok).
Except for the consent-based advertising measurement described in Section 1.7, these providers are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes or for advertising.
3.2 Legal and safety disclosures
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law or legal process; (b) protect the rights, property, or safety of Amor, our users, or the public; or (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud or security issues.
3.3 Business transfers
If Amor is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your personal data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
3.4 With your consent
We will share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.
4. Data retention
We retain your account information and couple content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see Section 5), we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law (e.g., tax or fraud-prevention records), in which case we retain only the minimum required data for the legally mandated period. Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
5. Your rights and choices
5.1 Access, correction, and portability
You may access and correct most account data directly inside the app. To request a portable copy of your personal data, email support@amorcouples.com. We will respond within 30 days (45 days where permitted by law).
5.2 Deletion
You can delete your account from Profile → Settings → Delete account in the app, or by emailing support@amorcouples.com. Deletion removes your personal data as described in Section 4.
5.3 Notifications
You can withdraw notification permissions at any time through your device settings.
5.4 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know what personal information we collect and how we use it; (b) delete your personal information; (c) correct inaccurate personal information; (d) opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information; the only “sharing” we do is the consent-based ad measurement described in Section 1.7, which you can opt out of at any time — see Section 5.6); and (e) non-discrimination for exercising these rights. 5.5 European / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for processing your personal data are: (a) performance of the contract between you and Amor (to provide the Service); (b) your consent, where obtained; and (c) our legitimate interests (to keep the Service secure and improve it), where those interests are not overridden by your rights. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your data, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise your rights, contact support@amorcouples.com.
5.6 Advertising tracking opt-out
Advertising attribution only happens if you allow it in the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt shown when you first open Amor. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking — turning tracking off for Amor stops the collection of your advertising identifier immediately. With tracking off, we receive only aggregated, anonymous campaign statistics through Apple’s SKAdNetwork.
6. Security
All data is transmitted over TLS. Data at rest is stored on encrypted infrastructure. We use Postgres row-level security so that only you and your linked partner can read your couple content. Service-role credentials are kept strictly server-side and never exposed to client devices.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we apply industry-standard safeguards, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@amorcouples.com.
7. Children
Amor is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below this age. If we discover that we have collected such information without parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact support@amorcouples.com.
8. International data transfers
Amor is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer. Where required by applicable law, we put in place appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your data.
9. Third-party links and services
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party services you access.
10. Disclaimer of warranties regarding privacy
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” AMOR MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, REGARDING THE SECURITY OR CONFIDENTIALITY OF YOUR DATA BEYOND WHAT IS EXPRESSLY STATED IN THIS POLICY. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date above. If the changes are material, we will notify you in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
